Surtr

The one born of the fire and rage. The one destined to set the universe ablaze. The one that dwells within the hottest depths of Muspelheim, the land of hellfire and ash. The scorcher of worlds, SURTR, the first, and king of the fire giants

Surtr was created by me in order to learn the digital character production pipeline. His concept started with the prompt of creating a creature from myth & legend. Being interested in Norse mythology, I looked into the various tales told throughout their culture and landed on Surtr because he’s simply badass. A primordial fire giant whose sole purpose is to create a sword so powerful that it will bring about Ragnarök, and as Surtr’s fire claims the last branch of the world tree Yggdrasil, the universe shall fall and be reborn again through flame.

The entire creation process followed these steps:
Research -> Concepting -> Iteration -> Final design sketches -> Base Model -> Sculpting -> Retopologising -> UV Unwrapping -> Texturing -> Rigging -> Wieght Painting -> Lighting & Rendering.
