The Arcane Forge

Arcane Anvil: Magic & Metal is a single-player VR fantasy job simulator developed in collaboration with MAXART, blending traditional blacksmithing with the mystic arts of sorcery.

Step into the shoes of an apprentice mage-smith under the mentorship of Taloncaster, a legendary mage who has been transmuted into the body of an owl.

With your mentor unable to work the forge, it’s up to you to master his craft—learning the art of smelting, transmutation, forging, crafting, and enchanting to complete customer orders and collect enough gold to restore Taloncaster to his human form.

As the lead artist for Arcane Anvil: Magic & Metal it was my job to design & model, unwrap & texture the main play environment – the Arcane Forge, as well as all of the work stations that players use to create their enchanted weaponry.

I took on multiple roles during this project, I also designed the initial concept, player interactions, general gameplay loop, lighting, and sound & visual FX.

Arcane Anvil: Magic & Metal was the capstone project to my Bachelor of Games and Interactive Environments and was constructed by Myself, Charlie Bean, Kasey Reeves, Christy Choi & Owen Thurlow over the course of 1 year.
